Five Great Religions of The World

Religions are essential for the world people in their life as they can guide how to lead a peaceful and genuine life. Every religion has its own epics and holy books that tell the importance of discipline and honesty in one's life. It teaches generosity, patience and confidence which are required to succeed in every part of life.

Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism and Jainism are five great religions in the world.

With over 2,200 millions of followers Christianity is the greatest world religion. It's widely spread in western countries like US, UK, and European countries. Roman Catholic, Eastern Orthodex and Protestantism are three main groups of this religion. Bible is their holy book and it teaches patience, discipline, tolerance, forgiveness and endurance. They worship God Jesus and believe that he will forgive all the sins done in a life. Every community of Christians has a Father who will be respected as son of Jesus They believe on evil spirits and holy spirits. On every Sunday Christians from all over the world will go to church for praying God. English New Year, Christmas, Good Friday are Christian festivals.

Islam is the second largest religion with more than 1,320 millions of followers. It has mainly spread in Arab States, Pakistan, India and Indonesia. Sunnis and Shias are two major groups of the religion. Quran is the holy book which teaches how to live as a true muslin  They believe Allah is only one God and he doesn't have any shape. Mosque is the place for worshiping the God. Every Friday Muslims used to go to mosques for a special prayer. They also believe on the Ramadan fast, day time fast that will continue for 27 or 28 days. Ramadan, Miladi Nabi, Mukaram are important festivals.

Hinduism is the third largest religion of the world with about 880 millions of followers. More than 80% of the Indians are following this religion. They worship God in different forms. Lord Shiva, Lord Vishnu and Lord Brahma are major Gods. Shakthi, Lakshmi, Saraswathi are three major Goddesses of  Hinduism. This religion is preaching about vegetarianism and says that one who has committed crimes will be certainly punished by the God. Temples are the worshiping place for Hindus. Bhagavad Gita is the holy book and Ramayan and Mahabharat are two epics of the religion. There are numerous number of Hindu temples all over the world. Vinayakar Chathurthi, Ayutha Pooja, Diwali and Gokulashtami are some major Hindu festivals.

Buddhism has spread over countries like Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Thailand, Myanmar, Nepal, Philippines, Vietnam. There are more than 300 millions of followers of Buddhism in the world. This religion was preached by Buddha lived in eastern part of India around 6th century. In Buddhism it is said that desire is the root cause for all sufferings in the life. Buddha had preached that God has no particular shape. However, the followers began to worship the image of Buddha in later years. Non violence is strictly followed in Buddhism Monastery is the place for worshiping Buddha. Wesak (full moon day of May) and Nivarana Day are some important Buddhist festivals.

Jainism is another great religion of the world with more than 6 millions of the followers. It has spread in countries like US, UK, Canada, Europe and Kenya. The religion  was founded by Rishabanath (first tirthankara) in first century. It preaches non violence and to equally love all living beings. Mahavir lived around 599 to 567 BC is the 24th Tirthankara. In Jainism it is believed that there is no supreme power of creation and one can attain super enlightenment and Godly state by self control and discipline. Temples are the places for praying God. Gyan Panchami, Diwali, Lakshna Parva, Paryushan Parva, Mahavir Jayanthi are some important festivals of the religion.
